Ramapo tomato
I was researching tomatoes this week when I ran across an article on the Ramapo F1 hybrid tomato. Ramapo was developed at Rutgers University in New Jersey. From what I've read it is delicious with that old time tomato flavor that puts store tomatoes to shame. The Ramapo tomato seeds have been hard to come by in the past but this year they are available from Rutgers University. I'm going to try them this year and see how they compare to my favorite heirloom varieties, Brandywine and Paul Robeson. Hopefully the seeds will be easier to come by and cheaper in the future. Only time will tell if the Ramapo seeds are worth the price. I generally prefer heirlooms but I can't resist trying something new every year. Hopefully the Ramapo tomatoes will live up to their reputation. They can be order from Rutgers the State University of NJ. I've included a link to the online order form.
